How to throw the Net

Here is the record to show how to throw the 'prawn net' to the sea. You need to observe the tide, the direction of the wave. If the wave is going sourth --> North, then your need to go East -> West. so that the wave will able to get all prawn, Kembong and other fish stick to the net.

You need to place a floater on the tail and another floater on the head. If your net is very long, if it is about 10 'page' net, then you need to put a 'white' floater in the center. The starting end of the net indicate with a flag to denote this is the starting point, and the tail always with a floater will do. The flag also use as indicator to tell you which net is belonging to you.

How Long Should You Wait

You will wait for at learst 1 hour to let the wave move. So that as many prawn or fish will able to get stick to your net. You also need to ensure the wave is flowing well, if not it will not have many prawn go into your net.

The Harvesting Time

When you start to collecting back your net, you need to start to collect it from the 'tail' end. Always keep your boat at the right side and your net at the left side. Do wear a glove with you, so that you will not get 'burn' by the jelly fish. Do be aware some of the poisonal creature. Always use hammer to knock it off.

1. Sea Snake
2. Sting Ray fish
3. Jelly fish - you need to slightly to shake it off the net.
4. Cat fish - be careful that you need to get rid of it's sharp object.

It need 2 person to collect the net. One person in front and one person at the back. So that the net able to collect in the right order. So that it will not get mess out.

You will not collect the prawn at this time, but you will untight it when you are at the jetty.

If you have an ais container, you can collect some of the prawn or fish that can easily untight. This will ensure your seafood is fresh.
